Shutter Art, Barcelona

One characteristic that Barcelona shares with some South American cities is an abundance of street art.  However, here the term needs to be more precise – ‘shutter art’ is more accurate. When the shops and bars close, the narrow streets fill with colour.  It’s a rule, not an exception, in the barrio of Gracia where we are staying. Today, as I walked the streets, I looked for unadorned shutters – and found only two.  Yet the brickwork, without exception, is untouched by spray paint.  The occasional doorway also provide a canvas.

Hey Mr. Paul. I’m a huge fan of your motorcycle adventures in South America and I’m living here in Barcelona, close to Gràcia. I would love to take a coffee with you guys, if you have the right timing.

    • Hi Jonathan. We are leaving Barcelona in 30 minutes!! But maybe we can find a time that works for both when we return in a couple of weeks – it would be great to meet up. We are taking the bike down to Andelucia to explore down there. Hope to see you soon. P

Andalucia is great. You’ll enjoy for sure. Yeah, let me know when you will come back. Have a nice trip. Jonathan.
